Project LIFT:  Literacy Initiative for FSM Leaders of Tomorrow
Our Purpose
Project LIFT
is now in its 5th year of full implementation, and we have just added our first scale-up school - Utwe Elementary in Kosrae!

The project is a successful joint effort between the Federated States of Micronesia National Department of Education, the four FSM State Departments of Education (Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap), and the University of Oregon College of Education Center for Equity Promotion. The purpose of Project LIFT is to increase educators' capacity to improve the literacy outcomes for all students within the FSM.

Since the project’s inception in 2014, 4 project schools, one from each of the four FSM states, have been involved in Project LIFT.  The plan has been to increase capacity by building model schools in each of the four states that can be used as demonstration sites.  As the Project LIFT continues into 2019-20 each State is developing its infrastructure in order to add a new cohort of Project LIFT schools.
